Fashion Design & Technology  (Level 5)

This advanced programme builds on the core skills acquired at year one (level 4) and allows learners to construct their own garment collections while working with a variety of textiles, pattern matching and advanced industry techniques.

What will you learn

Highlights of the course

This programme provides the learner with practical knowledge and skills to enable them to set up their own design or manufacturing business.
Learners are taught Computer-Aided Design (CAD)  software to create and grade patterns and create a lay plan suitable for production.  Each semester the learner produces a collection for their own niche market (four collections in total), in addition, learners develop their own portfolios, sketches, label/brand and have a photoshoot (to be used for an online presence and a ‘look book’).
Features of this course include utilising fabric technology to enhance the garment balance, advanced pattern engineering, fashion drawing, costuming, millinery and using boning and draping for evening wear.    Student loans and allowances are available.

Qualifications you will gain

New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Level 5)

  • New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Level 4) OR demonstrate equivalent industry experience

This course is Level 5 and consists of 120 Credits.​

Programme Duration - 36 weeks

Fees - $ 7,995 + $1500 (Fabric allowance) (Student loan and allowances are available for eligible applicants)
