This workshop is designed to up-skill students from a domestic machine background to confidently using industrial machines (automatic straight sewers and overlockers). The workshop teaches students how to use and handle industrial sewing machines and then to manufacture a garment using those machines.
Timeframe: 5 days during school holidays (9-5) or 6 consecutive Fridays (9-3)
Unit Standard: 17817 (level 3, 6 credits) “Assemble and sew a complete garment from cut components”
Pre-requisites: Ability to sew a complete simple garment
Max Students: 20 Manukau; 15 New Lynn
Cost: $120 per student
