NZ Certificate in Jewellery (Level 4)

This programme focuses on the use of fundamental hand-making skills in making fine jewellery.

What will you learn

Entry Criteria

You will develop and apply essential skills in the control of your hand-tools to achieve dimensions & marking out, forming, filing, soldering, making settings, cutting stone holes and back holes, polishing, to construct jewellery to prescribed parameters.

These skill-sets focus on establishing accuracy and applying problem-solving skills in the production of fine jewellery.

 

This program is closely linked to employment-focused activities and will suit anyone who is considering further study to make goldsmithing and jewellery a career.

Qualifications you will gain

NZ Certificate in Jewellery, Level 4

Course costs and materials

  • Minimum Requirements - You must be 18 years of age or older, and have English at NCEA Level 1, as all tuition is conducted in English.

  • Detailed Requirements - An audition is required and is free of charge. Prior experiences or achievements are not assessed unless requested.

This course is Level 4 and consists of 60 Credits.​

Programme Duration - 16 weeks

Fees - $6033.30

(Fees-free, student loan and allowances are available for eligible applicants)

Programme Details 

The school provides basic materials and common use tools required to complete the qualifications.
Students should also budget for additional materials up to $2150.00 This can include, a basic set of hand tools, stationery, metals and stones.
Where students wish to manufacture jewellery that exceeds project specifications; those materials are not included.
Full tuition is given in material conservation and best practice management.

Career Pathway

Education Pathways

Learners may enrol for PMGS Level 4 Certificate in Art & Design, and Diploma in Jewellery Level 5

Industry Bench hand, Apprentice, Maker in associated creative industries.
